A Message From The Mayor

Dear Chanhassen Residents,

I hope that you are all well. I am optimistic that the warmer weather of Spring is here to stay and the snow is finally behind us. I continue to be amazed by Chanhassen as I see the goodness in our community - neighbors reaching out to neighbors; the support of our local businesses; and our residents making the most of this challenging situation. Hang in there – stay optimistic – and find the good.

City Council

City Council held its first-ever virtual meeting on Monday, April 13th. While I was present in the Council Chambers, the four Councilmembers joined me via ZOOM. It was a successful endeavor and the format will be repeated at our subsequent meeting on April 27th at 7pm.  Please click here for the agenda www.ci.chanhassen.mn.us/agendas. In lieu of attending the meeting, email publiccomments@ci.chanhassen.mn.us and submit questions to be addressed during Visitor Presentations.

Department Updates

Fire Department

We continue to staff the station around the clock working in small teams. Call volumes remain steady and we remain healthy and ready to serve.

We have had a rash of people burning leaves and other yard waste lately that have resulted in calls from concerned neighbors. The DNR has currently banned open burning with the exception of agricultural land by special permit. Residents can continue to have recreational fires, however, they need to follow the city ordinances for that type of fire.

Parks & Recreation

We have received many calls about our programming. With the situation changing daily, the City Council will take action on any cancellations at our April 27th meeting followed by a decision on our 4th of July Celebration at our May 11th meeting. With warming weather, please make sure you stay safe on our trails and at our parks.

Public Works

Our annual spring street sweeping has been completed. We will now begin pothole patching and our hydrant flushing will be ongoing for a couple of more weeks. With road restrictions lifted, various road construction activities around the city will begin.

Sheriff's Office

We remain fully functional and recognize that resident safety is paramount. We are focusing our efforts on residential neighborhoods and ensuring the integrity of business districts is maintained. Emergencies:  9-1-1, Non-Emergencies:  952-361-1231 (Carver County Dispatch)

Utilities

In these difficult times, the City of Chanhassen realizes for some of you there could be difficulty paying your city utility bill. We encourage you to call City Hall at 952.227.1144 to set up a payment plan if needed.

Thank you!

We are grateful to the many who are on the front lines each and every day. Your willingness to make personal sacrifices so that we are healthy, remain safe, receive our mail and remove our garbage, get groceries and other needed supplies, and allow are kids to LEARN! Your selflessness is both recognized and appreciated.

Stay well, stay safe and stay healthy.

Warmest Regards,
Elise Ryan
