Community Cleanup Day for Water Quality

Saturday, October 27, 2018

Join your neighbors to rake, sweep or shovel leaves, dirt and debris on the curbs and streets. Phosphorus is a major source of water pollution that causes excessive growth of algae and depletes oxygen needed for fish and native plants. Impervious surfaces, such as city streets and parking lots, provide a pathway for phosphorus to get to local waters, which comes from decaying organic matter like leaves, branches and loose dirt. Fall is one of the peak periods for introduction of phosphorus from city streets into local waters.

Registration deadline is Thursday, October 25, 2018.
