Community Clean-Up Day for Water Quality MOVED DUE TO RAIN

Sunday, October 22, 2017

Please note that the day has been changed to SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22 due to the foretasted rain. Join your neighbors to rake, sweep or shovel leaves, dirt and debris on the curbs and streets. Phosphorus is a major source of water pollution that cause excessive growth of algae and depletes oxygen needed for fish and native plants. Impervious surfaces, such as city streets and parking lots, provide a pathway for phosphorus to get to local waters, which comes from decaying organic matter like leaves, branches and loose dirt. Fall is one of the peak periods for introduction of phosphorus from city streets into local waters.
